Coping with redundancy during the pandemic

The coronavirus outbreak is putting huge financial pressures on our workforce and many organisations are facing very difficult decisions related to staffing. Even with support measures in place from the Government, like the Job Retention Scheme, some industries have ceased operations altogether while others cannot retain staff on a long-term basis due to financial issues.

Whether expected or sudden, redundancy can cause huge uncertainty, stress and anxiety, and can make existing mental health problems worse. We’ve put together some ways to look after your mental health during the redundancy process.

The Minstead Trust provides opportunities for people with learning disabilities to experience activities that help improve their health and independence.

Monday Fellowship is for anyone over the age of 55 on the 2nd and 4th Mondays (2-3.30pm) of each month. There will be refreshments, speakers and, of course, great company!

The Money Advice Service website allows you to save and print out your budget, and make arrangements and plans on that basis

MOPP is a voluntary group which helps out families and individuals who are in desperate need of household items. Many items are donated to them free of charges which they pass on to those who are in need. The only charge from MOPP is for delivery.

MOPP also have a charity shop on Kingston Road, Buckland which raises vital funds towards the project.

Moriah Family Support Group confidentially supports all families of children and young ones (0-25) with any special educational needs, particularly those with English as an additional language.
