Dynamite PortsmouthWhat do we do?
Dynamite’s job is to make sure that young people with a disability or special educational need have a say in how services for young people are run. There are lots of ways that we do this including: Social evenings, where we talk about a different topic each time Young Inspectors, where young people visit services, young people want to inspect and say what is good about a service, and how that service could be better. Surveys, we use surveys to find out what young people in Portsmouth think Meetings, we attend meetings with decision makers so that they can hear young people’s voices. We also have a monthly to discuss issues and plan the work which Dynamite does. Is it suitable for anyone? Anyone can join Dynamite if they are: Aged 14 to 25 Have a disability or special educational need Use services like schools, colleges, or doctors in Portsmouth How do I get involved? You can email, phone us or Facebook us and we will let you know about our next event, or we can arrange for you to come in and meet us. Our email dynamite@aldingbourne.org and our phone number TEL: 02392 822026. PO1 5AA

From clubbing, karaoke and festivals to bowling, drama and sports, members can choose which events suit them, and there is always a good range of choice. Membership costs £10 a month. Gig Buddies(Aldingbourne Trust)The idea behind Gig Buddies is that we enable people with a learning disability and / or autism to enjoy everything great within their community.
To enable and support people to do this, we recruit volunteers from within the community who are then paired with individuals based on their likes and interests so they can attend events, socialise and enjoy a number of activities together. By matching people with the same interests and passions this in turn develops into a genuine friendship and begins to diminish social isolation. Each participant is matched with a volunteer and then plan to meet once a month to go to a gig, concert, theatre, football, cinema or a catch up in the local park or down the local pub. Group activities are planned monthly whereby everyone can get together and share their stories and make new friends. By being paired with a gig buddy, not only are real friendships made but the experience increases self-confidence, teaches new skills, increases independent travel, expands social networks and enables people to have lots of fun. 1 Cornwall Road
