The University of Portsmouth’s Volunteering Team work with around 120 different charities, community groups and non profit organisations each year. Promoting one-off or regular commitment volunteering roles directly to the university’s skilled and diverse student body. Their Volunteering Bank connects organisations with over 29,000 students and recent graduates, helping them find volunteers who bring academic knowledge, fresh perspectives, cultural diversity and a commitment to social impact.

Overview - If you live or work in the Portsmouth area, you can get free and confidential civil legal advice from our General Legal Advice Clinic. Help with landlord & tenant and other housing issues; employment matters; contact with children and other family enquiries; consumer and contract matters. We cannot help with criminal matters, immigration law or cases involving the university. We are currently unable to offer representation.

We are currently able to offer face-to-face and telephone advice.

Face-to-face service appointments are held in the Portland Building at the University of Portsmouth.

When the clinic is open, appointments are available at either 10:00am or 2:00pm.

At the University of Portsmouth, student wellbeing is central to the university experience. As part of our whole-university approach to health, mental health and wellbeing, we are committed to ensuring every student feels supported, included and able to thrive. Student Services offer a range of university-specific advice and guidance to help students navigate studies and daily life, including free mental health, wellbeing and counselling support.

Support is accessible to all registered University of Portsmouth students (campus-based, commuter, distance learning, full-time, part-time and students on placement), at all levels of study.
