Ashworth Charitable Trust: The Ashworth Charitable Trust is a small grant-making charity that was established to primarily support humanitarian causes. Grants are usually made for up to £3,000. In exceptional circumstances grants may be awarded up to £5,000. The Trust prefers to fund projects, not provide core funding. Applications are made online on the Trust's website.

Henry Smith – County Grants: Grants are available to small not-for-profit organisations and registered charities for projects involved with health and social welfare in Hampshire. The County Grants programme supports the work of small organisations and charities working with disadvantaged people and communities in eight counties with which The Henry Smith Charity has a historic association. One-year grants of between £500 and £10,000 and grants of up to £20,000 spread over either two or three years are available. The applicant's annual income must be below £250,000, or if working county-wide, below £1 million. Funding support through this scheme for work in the counties of East Sussex, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Suffolk and Surrey will be ending in September 2021.

Applications will be accepted until 30 September 2021, unless the budget is spent before this date. You can click here to find out more information. 

The Local Connections Fund: Round 2 of this opportunity to now open. This fund is designed to help charities and community groups working to reduce loneliness by helping build connections across their communities.  Microgrants between £300 and £2,500, so small, local organisations (with an annual income of £50,000 or less) can bring people and communities together.

Safety of Women at Night Fund - Home Office: The latest round of Home Office funding to reduce street based violence against women and girls, with a focus on the evening and night-time economy. Portsmouth City Council is currently planning to submit a bid, but would welcome discussions about partnering with other organisations. Sport England Return to Play- Small Grants Programme: Grants of between £300-£10,000 to help sport and activity groups, clubs and organisations respond to the immediate challenges of returning to play in a coronavirus-safe way. Sport and activity groups, clubs and organisations are eligible to apply.

Asda Foundation- Bringing Communities Back Together: Grants are available to local groups to reunite communities, celebrate togetherness and support groups as coronavirus restrictions are easing. Grants are available for between £250- £1,000. There are three funding streams available:

  • Celebration Event eg welcome back party, community celebration.
  • Getting Activities Back on Track eg gardening clubs, supporting groups and recreational activities, lunch clubs.
  • Combination (of the above) for those wanting to apply for both celebration event and getting activities back on track.
