In Portsmouth we have a vibrant and diverse Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise sector. HIVE Portsmouth celebrates and connects as many different groups as we can, but we recognise we need to work on innovative ways of reaching out to more diverse groups and be better at connecting with those on the edge of the sector.
There are so many Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic groups who serve the community in Portsmouth but who meet barriers in connecting with us and we want to address this.
We want to remove barriers; communicate better; address equal access to services and funding and recognition of the amazing work these groups do in Portsmouth
Thank you to the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Foundation (HIWCF) for awarding us the funding to reach out!
We want to work at building a true multicultural VCSE sector in Portsmouth, where groups in the city have a better awareness of each other and value the amazing work carried out in our communities. We want groups to be able to share without fear and to build each other up to be even better.
We also want to put work into addressing the term 'BAME' and finding better ways of engaging and communicating with diverse groups, and valuing different identities.
If you are part of a group in Portsmouth that wants to be heard and more included, please get in touch and we can celebrate your achievements and learn from you!
