HIVE Portsmouth and Together in HIVE Portsmouth has spoken extensively to volunteers from across the city to hear how their work affects them, to understand their experiences of volunteering and to record some of the many extraordinary stories of volunteering in the city.
We routinely see the positive contribution volunteers bring to Portsmouth and we wanted to capture what it means to be a volunteer, and to highlight the significant impact which volunteering has on people’s lives every day. Through this research we also wanted to learn lessons about how organisations use volunteers, and to learn how to get the best possible outcomes for all of the unsung heroes giving up their time.
