Could you play a vital role in improving health and wellbeing in Paulsgrove and Portsea?
This Strategic Programme Lead for Community Health Development post, which is fixed term until March 2027, is a joint programme between Portsmouth City Council and HIVE Portsmouth.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in strategically coordinating activities across Health and Care Portsmouth partners involved in the 'Healthy Living in Paulsgrove' and 'Healthy Living in Portsea' projects by bringing partners and residents together to support the implementation of the action plans and to take a view towards the rest of the city.
The projects bring together 50+ individuals from the council, NHS, HIVE Portsmouth, the VCSE and education sector, local community groups and, most importantly, Paulsgrove and Portsea residents, to explore solutions and ideas to support communities to live happier and healthier lifestyles.

• Provide strategic leadership to the 'Healthy Living in Paulsgrove' and 'Healthy Living in Portsea' projects, ensuring all aspects of the work - including but not limited to VCSE work, mental health, primary care, urgent care, prevention and tackling health inequalities, HAF and more - are all linked in and joined up where appropriate.
• Provide project management support to Paulsgrove ARK, a new constituted community group in Paulsgrove, as they establish a community front door in the area (similar to existing local models such as Portsea Community Hub or Spark Community Space).
• Fully evaluate and assess the impact of the community front door model in Paulsgrove through HDRC Portsmouth, with an ambition to explore the development of similar models across the rest of the city.
The ideal candidate is someone who:
• Is educated to degree level in a relevant subject (or equivalent level qualification) or substantial relevant experience in a similar role.
• Has an excellent working knowledge and understanding of the purpose and scope of Health and Care Portsmouth, including the five priority areas and specific challenges of delivering in work around reducing health inequalities.
• Has experience of working as a strategic lead on projects and budgets, ensuring adequate resources are in place and that plans are clearly communicated with staff and key stakeholders, and that delivery is monitored and evaluated.
• Has experience of working with residents and a good understanding of different approaches to reach a range of communities, with substantial knowledge of working alongside community groups, voluntary organisations and partnerships.
• Has experience of reviewing and analysing qualitative and quantitative research and reports to extract relevant data and learning and is able to present this to a new audience.
• Can demonstrate leadership at all levels, is a well organised, highly motivated self-starter who can manage their own time, prioritise competing demands and work with autonomy, and has a strong team ethic and ability to work collaboratively and effectively.
• Has experience of communicating and developing working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including Councillors, Directors, senior staff across the council and partner organisations.
