On Friday 8 March the HIVE will be telling the stories of inspirational Portsmouth women both past and present to celebrate International Women’s Day. From those at the forefront of the suffrage movement to those championing our local communities and supporting some of the most vulnerable, these stories will be told through the Stories from the City Instagram account.
Cllr Jeanette Smith, Cabinet Member for Resources said: “In Portsmouth we are lucky to have a varied history of inspirational women living and working in our communities.
But it’s not just women of the past that have shaped Portsmouth; we are exceptionally lucky to have ambitious and inspirational women thriving in our city.
I feel proud of all that has been achieved by women locally and it is incredibly important that we celebrate all they do for the people of Portsmouth.”
