Making sure that there’s support available to live independently is crucial to helping people stay well, stay supported and stay out of hospital.
We are offering grants of up to £10,000 for local groups and organisations who directly support the people of Portsmouth to stay well at home.
Organisations which offer face-to-face befriending, assistance with transport, help with shopping, mobility support, support with day-to-day tasks such as managing bills and jobs round the house such as gardening and cleaning are encouraged to bid for the grants.
We've worked with partners organisations to identify these six areas of work as being the most useful to those who might be at risk of being admitted to hospital, for example those who are elderly or those who have had an injury or fall.
The funding has come from external partners, including Ageing Healthily, to support organisations who support those at risk of admission to hospital
Localised and city-wide organisations are encouraged to bid for the grants, with those which meet neighbourhood need given the opportunity to bid for up to £5,000 and those covering a wider area in the running for up to £10,000. Collaborative bids are encouraged.
Lorna Reavley, Chief Executive of HIVE Portsmouth said: “We want to be able to build capacity within the voluntary sector to ensure that people are getting all the help they need to live independently wherever possible.
“We’d love to be able to support a wide variety of groups and organisations from across the city through these grants. We’re particularly keen to hear from groups which are reaching and supporting diverse communities. There’s some exceptional work within the voluntary sector to support people to stay well at home, and we want to support this as much as possible.”
