Portsmouth Area Talking News

The Portsmouth Area Talking News (PATN) was started in 1973 when the Government of the time decided that there was a need for visually impaired people to be able to access local news reported in the papers. PATN became a Charity enabling it to reach a wider audience beyond the confines of Portsmouth.

Portsmouth Deaf Centre

Due to the change in Government guidelines on the maximum number of persons in any one bubble now being restricted to 6 from 30 as well as imposing escalating fines for ignoring Government guidelines as well as possible curfews on top of existing and current health and safety considerations, the PDA Committee have decided that the Portsmouth Deaf Centre will remain closed to all groups exceeding 6 people which includes Portsmouth Deaf Centre Club, Portsmouth Deaf Friendly Club and PDCC- Bar until further notice.

Please remember the simple rules like basic hygiene (ie washing your hands for at least 20 seconds) as well as appropriate social distancing of at least 2 metres.

Your co-operation in upholding this request will be much appreciated. Thank you.

The Portsmouth Deaf Centre was set up to provide a place where Deaf people can meet on both a social and educational basis. Other members of the local community are encouraged to participate in the facilities that are offered by the Centre. The centre also hosts a monthly carers support group for people caring for a family member or friend who has dementia.
