British Red Cross Refugee Support

The British Red Cross is the UK’s largest independent provider of services and support for refugees and people seeking asylum.

We offer emergency help, one-to-one support and casework, special services for children and families, and family reunions.

If you are a refugee or asylum seeker in the UK who needs help, or someone who works with refugees and people seeking asylum, our teams will speak to you and help you figure out what you need.

We can offer help from the Red Cross or refer you to other organisations for support.

Ethnic Minority Achievement Service (EMAS)

EAL Portsmouth (the home of Portsmouth's Ethnic Minority Achievement Service) are a team of highly experienced and well-respected Advisers and Bilingual Learning Assistants. We work with schools in Portsmouth and beyond, across all Key Stages (Nursery - KS5), to support pupils who have English as an Additional Language to make outstanding progress.

Our courses and consultancy are constantly reshaped to meet the particular needs of a school, group of schools or local authority. We also provide a range of pupil-support services, including diagnostic and holistic assessments.

Kurdish Community in Portsmouth

A support community for Kurdish people living in Portsmouth. In addition, now our organisation run a Kurdish Children School every Saturday to educate Kurdish children in Portsmouth of their mum’s tongue.

Portsmouth Cameroonian Association (PCAS)

PCAS’s aim is to provide support to community members and to promote inclusion and cultural diversity in Portsmouth, UK.
PCAS is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation that was formed in 2019 to represent the interests of all people of Cameroonian descent in the city of Portsmouth, and beyond and to engage with members of our community through our events and activities to promote our cultural heritage through social inclusion and diversity.

Portsmouth City of Sanctuary

Portsmouth is a city proud to offer safety and sanctuary to anyone fleeing violence and persecution or who is isolated and seeking safety. With dignity and compassion, we welcome all people seeking sanctuary, and we are committed to building work streams of action to offer support accordingly.

Portsmouth groups and citizens have come together to form a City of Sanctuary, sharing a vision to confidently demonstrate inclusiveness, openness and participation. The group formally launched in June 2019 at Portsmouth Guildhall, and is now a registered charity needing your support, including volunteering! PCoS is part of the national non-political/religious City of Sanctuary movement, has full Portsmouth City Council endorsement and the support of around 120 local organisations.

The Refugee Sanctuary Hub meets at All Saints Church, 336 Commercial Road, PO1 4BT, every Monday 10.00am - 1.00pm (Excluding Bank Holidays). Orientation paperwork, support for survivors of trafficking, support for women working in the sex industry, OISC immigration advice and baby provisions

We create and foster unity amongst Gambians and non Gambians in Portsmouth and its surroundings.

Portsmouth Pakistani Association

We are representative of Pakistani expats living in Portsmouth and their surroundings, we organise our cultural and social events and provide an atmosphere so families can feel like at home.

We work with families living in isolation and help them to overcome mental health issues or family problems. We support them socially, and mentally and sometimes find work for them so they can look after themselves. We focus on our children's education so they can do their best in their lives.
