What is Caritas?

“Caritas” is the practical expression of Christian love; a special grace received in Baptism, the fire of the Father’s love for us and in us”.

Caritas Portsmouth works at grassroots level through our parish communities. Inspired by Catholic faith, Caritas is the helping hand of the Church – reaching out to the poor, vulnerable and excluded, regardless of race or religion, to build a world based on justice and fraternal love.

The Cathedral Discovery Centre, situated at the car park entrance to the Cathedral, is a resource for the benefit to the Parish, the Diocese and the community at large. It comprises meeting rooms with kitchen facility and a shop.

Christ Central Church Portsmouth gathers people of all ages and backgrounds from across Portsmouth and Southsea. We are a vibrant, Bible teaching church eager to serve those in and beyond our city with the good news of Jesus Christ.

We love our city, its history, its character and most significantly its people. Whether you’re a student just arriving in the city, or someone whose family hail from this fair land, all are warmly welcome.

Every Sunday we prioritise being together as a church from across Portsmouth and beyond, to worship, receive teaching and celebrate the grace of God together. Christ Central seek the fame of Christ in our city and beyond, as lives are transformed by the power of His Gospel.

We meet in three locations on a Sunday:

10AM – Shore Avenue, PO4 8NB
10:30AM – John Punds Centre, PO1 3HN
7:30PM – Treadgolds, Bishop Street, PO1 3DA

Christ Central is a vibrant, Bible teaching church, that exists to see lives and communities, in, around and beyond Portsmouth transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ, enjoying God and glorifying Him in all things.

Main services are held each Sunday morning from 10.30am and last roughly one hour.

Tea & coffee will be served after every service we extend a warm welcome to all for an opportunity to enjoy fellowship.

Holy Communion is included in the first Sunday service of every month.

The hall is available in the evenings , weekends and school holiday times and is often used for children’s parties and other activities.
Hire is charged at £10.50 an hour.

We are a friendly, evangelical, Church of England church who have been serving the Widley, Purbrook and Cosham area on the edge of Portsmouth since 1874. Our services are a relaxed mix of contemporary and traditional worship, to which all are welcome.

Christian Science Society Portsmouth is a friendly Christian community where we welcome others to join us in our worship and service to God. Our emphasis is on learning and understanding the Bible and following the example of Jesus and his followers.
