Autism Hampshire - Specialist Mentoring Service

The team of qualified Specialist Mentors is experienced in providing 1-1 support to Higher Education students who:

May be on the autism spectrum
May have mental ill health
May have a Specific Learning Difference
This DSA accredited service aims to empower students to develop condition specific strategies that enable them to overcome barriers to learning.

Specialist Mentoring can support with:

Developing a better understanding and awareness of the student’s condition and how it may impact on university life and academic study.
Developing coping strategies and approaches that enable students to manage their studies successfully and independently.
Reflecting on and reviewing progress towards achieving set aims throughout the academic year.
Identifying and reviewing action points
Time management and organisational planning
Signposting to University and local services for support available when needed.
Specialist Mentoring cannot support with:

Academic teaching
Counselling/ medical advice
However, students will be signposted to and supported to access the most appropriate services and support when needed.

Community First

Community First aims to be the difference that makes a difference in our local communities.
Offering group support with funding, volunteering, access to training and development, transport services, support with community development, providing local information and directories, access to voluntary sector resources.
Individual support may be employability courses, home help support, call and go transport, gardening services, employment hub and job clubs, youth volunteering opportunities.
