Action Hampshire

It’s over 70 years since Action Hampshire was set up and it’s been supporting voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations to deliver great services to local people and communities ever since; speaking up for the changes they would like to see; and shaping the future of where they live and work.
We support groups and individuals.

Some of our services are free of charge but we also have a paid-for membership service which gives access to more of our support. For more details, please see our website or get in touch: https://actionhampshire.org.uk/get-support/ and https://actionhampshire.org.uk/get-involved/member-network/

Dynamite Portsmouth

What do we do?

Dynamite’s job is to make sure that young people with a disability or special educational need have a say in how services for young people are run.

There are lots of ways that we do this including:

Social evenings, where we talk about a different topic each time
Young Inspectors, where young people visit services, young people want to inspect and say what is good about a service, and how that service could be better.
Surveys, we use surveys to find out what young people in Portsmouth think
Meetings, we attend meetings with decision makers so that they can hear young people’s voices. We also have a monthly to discuss issues and plan the work which Dynamite does.

Is it suitable for anyone?

Anyone can join Dynamite if they are:

Aged 14 to 25
Have a disability or special educational need
Use services like schools, colleges, or doctors in Portsmouth

How do I get involved?

You can email, phone us or Facebook us and we will let you know about our next event, or we can arrange for you to come in and meet us. Our email dynamite@aldingbourne.org and our phone number TEL: 02392 822026.

Pathways Support

Pathways Support is a care and support provider for adults with learning difficulties and disabilities based in the heart of Portsmouth.

With the current cost of living crisis, more and more people are going unnoticed by the system and many are living hungry and cold.

We at Pathways believe everyone should have access to the help they need and deserve, although we are already aware of some of the fantastic food bank organisations in Portsmouth, none specifically target adults with learning difficulties or disabilities.

As we know disabled people are at a disadvantage due to low employment opportunities and the extra costs some face. Harrowingly, almost half of people living in poverty either have a disability/LD or are an acting carer for someone with one.

In addition to this almost 70% of adults with learning difficulties say they have no resources for food banks and would not know where to go to for one.

Pathways, with the help of the community, would like to change this.
