HIVE Portsmouth works with people and organisations to improve the health and well-being of people in Portsmouth. Key partners include health and care statutory organisations, Portsmouth City Council, the University of Portsmouth and the hundreds of voluntary, community and social enterprise groups (VCSE) who play a pivotal role in supporting local people. We actively support the development of the VCSE sector within the City of Portsmouth and enable and support social action on issues within Portsmouth.
We’re looking for two Community Connectors to help support Pride in Place in Portsmouth; one role based in Paulsgrove and one in Landport.
At HIVE, we believe strong communities already have skills, insight, energy and ideas. This role is about building on those strengths: connecting people, listening well, supporting local action and helping residents shape what happens in their neighbourhood.
As a Pride in Place Community Connector, you’ll build trusted relationships with residents, grassroots groups, local organisations and partners. You’ll work alongside the Neighbourhood Board and local people to understand what matters most, encourage inclusive participation, and help turn community priorities into practical action.
We’re looking for people who are approachable, organised and passionate about community-led change. You might already have experience in community development, outreach, engagement or partnership working — but just as importantly, you’ll know how to build trust, bring people together and make sure local voices are heard.
These are full-time, fixed-term roles for 37 hours a week over 2 years. The posts are subject to a basic DBS check and some evening and weekend work will be needed where community activity requires it.
If you’re excited by the idea of helping communities thrive, working alongside residents, and being part of a team that brings people together to build a happier, healthier and more connected city, we’d love to hear from you.
