Community Helpdesk Coordinator
Are you someone who listens well, cares about people, and wants to help residents find the right support at the right time?
At HIVE Portsmouth, we bring people together to build a happier, healthier and more connected city. We are looking for a Community Helpdesk Coordinator to help develop and deliver our community helpdesk offer across QA Hospital, Central Library and community venues. This is a practical, people-focused role for someone who enjoys connecting with residents, patients, carers, professionals and local organisations, and who can bring warmth, confidence and good judgement to every conversation.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Community Helpdesk Coordinator on a 1-year fixed term contract. You’ll be part of a friendly and committed team working alongside NHS, Local Authority, VCSE and community partners to make it easier for people to access support. You’ll be a welcoming first point of contact through the helpdesk, helping people to understand their options, navigate local services and feel more connected to their community.
The role will include time at QA Hospital and our established community-based helpdesks, with flexibility to work across different locations depending on need. You’ll support early intervention, help improve referral routes, and contribute to a service that is shaped with local people and rooted in what matters to them.
We’re looking for someone who is approachable, organised and genuinely interested in people. You’ll be a confident communicator who can listen carefully, respond with empathy and help people feel heard, even when situations are busy or challenging.
You don’t need to know every answer straight away, but you will need the curiosity, initiative and confidence to find things out, work with others and keep people informed. Experience in customer service, community support, advice, health, social care or voluntary sector settings would be helpful, but most important is your commitment to excellent service, teamwork and treating every person with dignity and respect.
If you think you are the ideal person who can clearly demonstrate a commitment to our charitable objectives and the objectives of this role, we would love you to join our team.
Salary: £26,097
Hours: Full time 37 hours
1-year fixed term contract initially
