Tonic Music for Mental HealthOur story
Tonic Music was founded in 2012 upon the belief that participation in music is good for mental health. Originally based in Portsmouth, we have developed into a registered charity operating across the UK, through the provision of online programmes and outreach services. From our initial work raising awareness, we now champion action. This is achieved by providing mental health support to ensure people continue to professionally and recreationally engage in music. Our mission To establish good mental health within music communities. Our Vision To be the UK’s leading mental health charity in music, making a transformative impact on the wellbeing of those who participate in music - professionally and recreationally. We strive to inspire positive individual and systemic change creating healthier, more resilient music communities nationwide. Our Values Community-minded: We are active, positive participants in the music community, bringing real-world experience, professionalism and empathy to the grassroots level upward. Caring: We put people first. Without prejudice, we support anyone in music who needs mental health care, meeting them with compassion and respect. Innovative: We evolve with purpose - expanding our understanding and approaches to support mental wellbeing in music communities. We challenge norms, embrace new paths to healing, and create spaces where creativity and wellbeing thrive together. Brave: We stand up to the stigma surrounding mental health in music - not with judgment, but with empathy, courage, and unwavering resolve. |
