Rowans Hospice - Living Well Centre

A Centre for support for people with life-limiting illnesses
Rowans Living Well Centre drop-in service is available Monday to Sunday, from 10:00 – 16:00. The Living Well Centre offers a range of both face-to-face and virtual activities, and the opportunity to meet new people who can support and guide you. Rowans Meerkat Bereavement Service

Our Child Bereavement Support service (known as Rowans Meerkat Service), offers specialist emotional support to children and young people who have a significant adult (such as a parent or grandparent), with a life-limiting illness or, who have been bereaved of an adult close to them. We work alongside families with children up to the age of 18.

Simon Says Child Bereavement Support

Online and/or Telephone Based.

Simon Says offers bereavement support for Children and Young People, with a wide range of resources which can be read, watched, and downloaded from the website. https://www.simonsays.org.uk/

The Helpline (023 8064 7550) is manned 9am-5pm Monday - Friday by trained volunteers who will be able to provide information and advice, and if appropriate, the child/young person can be registered with Simon Says for support.

We're here to help you, if you are in despair about anything – such as housing, money, relationships, work, bereavement, or living away from home at university.

Solent NHS Trust - School Nursing Service

School Nurses in Portsmouth work in local authority schools, our role is to support the health and wellbeing of school age children by promoting good health to enable children to reach their full potential.

We work across all schools in Portsmouth often meeting families in schools, family hubs or where necessary, at the child’s home.

Unfortunately, we are unable to support with behaviour needs or identification/assessment of neuro disabilities and would recommend parents/carers to discuss these concerns with school.

Children who live and attend a school within Portsmouth city. Children who are educated at home can also access our service.

Provides support and treatment for individuals experiencing complex and/or prolonged bereavement
The service accepts referrals from any health professionals working in the service’s community catchment area, including GPs.

Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide meets the needs and overcomes the isolation experienced by people over 18 who have been bereaved by suicide.

The Compassionate Friends

Bereavement support after the death of a child from one month old up to an adult child and from any cause.
All of our volunteers are bereaved parents or adult siblings. We offer private Facebook Group support, online group support meetings, one to one local and group support, a grief library and leaflets written by parents about many aspects of losing a child.

You are not alone - you can be supported by us through our Helpline on 0345 123 2304 and our online support.

Age Ranges:
from one month old up to an adult child
Please note that we also offer support to adult bereaved siblings.
