Funk Format is Hampshire’s longest-running Hip-Hop dance and culture organisation. We’re a Portsmouth community interest company (Soul Rawkus CIC) teaching Street Dance form along with the history and culture behind it.

We run weekly classes in Southsea for children from age 5, teens and adults, covering Breaking, Popping, Locking, Hip-Hop Freestyle and House. ALL AGES. ALL LEVELS. Complete beginners are welcome, and you can try a taster session before you sign up.

Our founder, Sasha Biloshisky, has been dancing, teaching and choreographing for 27 years. He has performed internationally and lectures in Street Dance at the University of Chichester.

We also take Street Dance workshops, residencies and Hip-Hop theatre into schools. We work with local authorities, arts organisations and community groups on projects and events, with funding from Arts Council England and the National Lottery Heritage Fund. We also produce Rawkus City, a free festival of Hip-Hop dance, music and art in Guildhall Square.

Here at Global Music Visions C.I.C. we aim to bring the benefits of music to as many severely sight impaired (blind), sight impaired (partially sighted), and disabled children and adults as possible, by using computer music software technology.

Med3 Music is a Portsmouth based music group for people experiencing enduring mental health problems. We offer peer to peer support & social interaction for members who may otherwise be socially isolated through a shared musical experience.

We are a friendly, fun choir that meet every Friday at 7:30pm at St James church hall in Milton, Portsmouth

The PYC Service sits within Portsmouth City Council’s Housing, Neighbourhood and Buildings Directorate. Our locality based provision is supported by additional council funding and grants which enable us to offer open access services to all City residents.

PYC manages four community centres; provides six staffed adventure playgrounds and four youth clubs across the city and runs three additional youth projects. We also administer the HAF programme on behalf of the Children’s, Families and Education Directorate.

Play and Youth spaces support from early childhood in to adulthood, providing safe recreational spaces which are also informal educational environments, where children and young people are supported with their mental health and wellbeing.

Our staff receive specialist training in safeguarding and restorative practice, and in supporting children, young people and their families.

We run workshops in areas that impact children and young people, such as domestic abuse; healthy relationships; knife crime and exploitation; and eating healthily; thereby contributing as an early intervention service, reducing anti-social behaviour, risk of harm and improving life chances.

The objective of the adventure playgrounds is to offer ‘freely chosen play’ in adherence to Article 31 of the UN convention on the rights of the child to engage in play and recreational activity and participate freely in cultural life.

Youth work offers young people safe spaces to explore their identity, experience decision-making, increase their confidence, develop inter-personal skills and think through the consequences of their actions. This leads to better informed choices, changes in activity and improved outcomes for young people.

As a small band of approx ten people we are a very friendly and supportive group of individuals of mixed abilities. We enjoy playing popular tunes that the audience can sing along and dance to. This is not typical of traditional brass bands.

We fully support anybody that used to play a brass instrument, whatever their ability, that wishes to return to the hobby and meet new friends.

We rehearse at The Deaf Centre in Arundel Street, Fratton, PO1 14X, Monday and Thursday nights 7:30pm - 9pm.
