Talking Therapies PortsmouthMake The First Step
We know the courage it takes to ask for help, and we hope you’ll consider therapy with us. Read more about what to expect if you refer. Talking Therapies Portsmouth is for everyone aged sixteen or over, who live in Portsmouth and are registered with a GP in the city. You can self-refer by calling us on 0300 123 3934 or by completing the secure form online. https://www.talkingtherapiesportsmouth.nhs.uk/ Once we receive your referral, we’ll contact you within five working days to arrange assessment. We’ll send you some information about the assessment, and a couple of questionnaires to complete before we talk. These questionnaires will help us get a clearer understanding of your difficulties. During the assessment, we’ll ask you how you’re feeling and how you’ve been coping up to now. We’ll listen to you and we won’t judge what you say. It’s ok if you don’t know where to start. Sometimes it’s difficult to describe our thoughts or feelings. We’ll help you make sense of things. We’ll ask a series of standard questions to help us understand the type of support that would be best for you. Nelson Drive

The Orchards and The LimesIn The Orchards unit, there are two wards called Hawthorn Ward and Maples Ward. The Orchards unit forms part of the Acute Care Pathway. The Hawthorn Ward is for Acute Admissions and the Maples Ward is for Psychiatric Intensive Care. They both primarily look after working age adults (18-65 years). However, they may accept those who are older depending on their needs. It also depends if they require an admission for a period of treatment for a mental illness and due to their risks, cannot receive appropriate care in the community.

Our peer support network enables our members to connect with others in similar situations, in a safe space and within their own right. We know how vital support for the family is and we cover the whole of the UK including families overseas. Our virtual support services consist of peer support, talks and events, intelligent signposting and, in exceptional circumstances, specialist 1:1 support from a volunteer.
